Stuart, McLeod re-signed contractsThe Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed forward Cody McLeod and defenseman Brad Stuart.

Cody McLeod signed a three-year contract extension through the 2017-18 season and Brad Stuart a two-year extension through the 2016-17 campaign.

“Cody has been an Avalanche his entire career,” said Avalanche Executive Vice President/General Manager Joe Sakic. “He brings grit, energy and passion to the rink every single day.  We are excited to have him under contract for another three years.”

“Brad is a steady, experienced defenseman who is a solid addition to our blue line,” added Sakic.

McLeod, 30, has spent his entire career with the Avalanche after signing as a free agent on July 6, 2006.  The Binscarth, Manitoba native has appeared in 467 career games, tallying 91 points (50g/41a) and 978 penalty minutes.  McLeod’s 978 career PIM are the most in Avalanche history and the sixth-most in franchise history.  McLeod has also dressed in 23 career playoff games, registering three points (2g/1a).

Stuart, 34, is entering his first season with Colorado after being acquired from San Jose on July 1, 2014.  He has appeared in 985 career games in the NHL, recording 322 points (77g/245a).  Selected third overall by San Jose in the first round of the 1998 Entry Draft, the veteran defenseman is beginning his 15th NHL season this fall.  He has spent most of his career with San Jose but has also played for Boston, Calgary, Los Angeles and Detroit. 

Stuart helped the Red Wings capture the 2008 Stanley Cup championship. The Rocky Mountain House, Alberta native has dressed in 142 career playoff games, notching 40 points (10g/30a)
