Another dissapointing end

Another dissapointing endNo playoffs for the Avs. Again.

Finally, they're out of it even mathematically. In their minds they were apparently out of it for a long time, considering the record they have in the last few games. You can't play like that when you're fighting for the last playoff spot. I said it before, I'll say it again. This one is mainly on the coach. If you can't motivate your team when everything is on the line, you're not a very good coach. That being said, if you're a 20 something professional player on the verge of making it to the playoffs, the thing you wished for since you were a little boy and can't motivate yourself to play harder, better, to do anything just to help the team make it... I don't know what to say.

To say that I'm disappointed by the way the Avs understood to play against the Blue Jackets (61 points before this game, last place in the West) is an understatement. But it's nothing compared to what I feel about the management's attitude towards Sacco. In any sport, when the team fails, the coach is responsible. Is it fair? Not always, but that's the way things are. The Avs already acknowledged that mediocrity and even sucking is ok, when they didn't fire Sacco after an awful end of season, last year. And now, after only a handful of playoff games in three years under Sacco, they renew his contract. What for? For being so bad that they got Landeskog - who, by the way, should be the rookie of the year ? For not being able to coach a team on the verge of making the playoffs to string two wins in a row in the last 7 games of the season? For getting three points in the last 6 games? Three points! Yes, the players are playing, but the coach puts them on the ice. Or ruins them with his bag skates and benching and demoting. I may be under the influence of those last few games, but this decision regarding the coaching staff shows me the Avs are a joke and the Kroenke family should sell the team if they don't care about it. Well, they do care about the money it brings them...

And if you think there'll be a big splash in the off season, with Parise, Weber, Semin and whoever you may wish to get... Forget about it! First of all, no money will be spent on a big name. You'll see.

Second of all, no big name would join a losing team. Remember what Vokoun did last year. He'd rather play on a short contract for less money, then come to Colorado.

And if they keep at it, the youngsters will take their first chance to get the heck out of there and play for a contender.

This was my last comment for this season. I won't be watching the last game, I see no point in wasting three hours of my life like that. I'd rather do something more pleasant, like banging my head against a wall.

I'll see you again when the draft comes... Oh, wait... Yes, they don't have 1st round pick. Oops. Okay, than when free agency will arrive and a big name will come to Denver... Just kidding, I told you that won't happen. Anyways, thank you to those patient enough to read my ramblings and to those kind enough to host them here. Take care and see you soon!
