GM of Norwegian team talked about Landy
“He said the Rosenborg
would be one of the options for him, but he has not decided yet. We are now
just waiting,” said general manager of the Rosenborg ice hockey team Atle Johansen via telephone for
Eurolanche. “Now we are just looking
forward if he will want to play here. The next level would be solved the insurance.
For sure the club cannot afford this kind amount of money.”
The financial situation is for the small hockey market
in Norway the biggest problem. According to Norwegian journalists, the fee for Gabriel Landeskog´s insurance could be
up to 35 000 USD per month. It is unreachable level for the team with a
stadium with 3 000 seats. In the previous interview, Daniel Andersen who also works for the team said he thinks the
sponsors would support the arrival of the last Calder Trophy winner.
The idea of Landeskog´s lockout career in Norway has
appeared for the first time in the local media. Captain of the Colorado Avalanche
attended the golf tournament in the city of Trondheim where is the Rosenborg
based. He met there with his close friend Jesper
Eriksen the Swedish defenseman who is currently ready for his first season
in Norway. When the rumors were spread in the news, Eriksen called to Landy and
everything has started. “He is not a guy
who thinks about money,” said Eriksen in the exclusive interview for www.eurolanche.com. “He has no rush. He is in Denver waiting how the lockout problem will
solve. He is not going to play for Rosenborg now, but also he is not saying yes
or no for the future.”
Eriksen is the leader of the communication between
Landeskog and Rosenborg. They exchanged many calls in the last days. It is
still not clear how long lockout will last. Landeskog is the part of the big group
of the Avalanche players who are in Denver and waiting. According to Eriksen,
who visited Denver and his friend in the past, many European teams will have
interest in Gabriel. No surprise. Surprise would be if the Swedish native will
move to Norway for a while. “I think the
chance that he will play with me here is small actually. I think he will play
in other team, when he came to Europe someday. It would be of course nice to
play with my best friend again,” said Eriksen who also thinks that
Landeskog will not play in the AHL.
For now the Norwegian saga remains open. It could change today, tomorrow or in the next month. The lockout has brought with itself the uncertainty and chaos. Most of the players and all fans are waiting. At the other side are European hockey teams which are in the hoping. NHL experienced addition is the winning addition in every case. That could happen in Norway team. Something they did not think about days ago.
Eurolanche will continue monitor the reports from Norway and Gabriel Landeskog. We will inform you about everything, does not matter how it ended.
Where will play other Avalanche player during the lockout?
