O´Byrne´s solid game in the ECHL

Ryan
O´Byrne was alone player of the Colorado
Avalanche, who played in North America during the lockout period. He also
was alone defenseman of the team, who played somewhere. O´Byrne joined Florida Everblades of the East Coast
Hockey League (ECHL) at the end of November. Florida is a defending champion
and totally 23 teams play in the league.
O´Byrne made his debut on 30th November and
assisted on one goal. Finally, Florida lost to Greenville Road Warriors 4:5 in the shootouts. In the next game,
O´Byrne faced the same opponent, but now could score a goal and also added one
assist for two-point game. Florida won 4:3. Ryan had remained pointless for
almost next two weeks, when he finally had the assist.
The second O´Byrne´s two-point game was against Kalamzoo Wings, when Ryan scored the
goal and had one assist again. Everblades won 2:1 and there was no doubt who
was MVP of the game. Ryan could collect next two points in one game against Warriors
for the third time in the season. He assisted two times. One of his best games
was also against Orlando Solar Bears,
when Ryan had team-high five shots.
O´Byrne appeared in 16 games in the ECHL. Florida won
eight of them (the longest winning streak was four- game), had five regulation
losses and three in the overtime/shootouts.
Ryan scored two goals and added nine assists for eleven points. He also gained
ten PIM, three plus points and had 29 shots. He had at least a point in
eight games.
Eurolanche could not follow O´Byrne in the ECHL as the
rest of Avalanche players playing in Europe, but as we can see on his stats, he
is in good shape and was solid.
