The Avs summer not to do list

The Avs summer not to do list Could bad moves hurt the fans renewed faith?

After reading the ridiculous trade rumors from Buffalo Sabres offering for the first overall pick. It got me thinking that if the Avs do something like that it could be a sign that maybe things won’t change at all. This led me to the idea of how important this off season really is going to be for fans.  A couple bad moves could easily deflate the excitement that has come with the Roy and Sakic hiring. Let’s look at some moves I think could cause some serious backlash and loss of faith.

Number 1 would be well simply trading the first overall for something terrible. To me that means anything outside of the top 3 picks. Yes I want Seth Jones but also I like the idea of Nathan MacKinnon. Hell I like the idea of Jonathan Drouin too. While Mackinno might be, I say might be the most dynamic player of the three. The other two fill needs the Avs have had for a long time in franchise defense and scoring wingers. All I know is the top 3 picking teams are going to be very lucky to get these guys. So if the Avs trade outside the top 3 it better be for the world or else it might as well be the end. Because if you are going to suck and yes let’s be honest they did suck this year. If you are going to suck better make it up to fans as fast as you can.

Number 2 for me would be signing Ryan O’Byrne back. I know he was a good guy great with charities. Defiantly the kind of guy you want representing your team as opposed to Vegas guys. But he just kind of a big pylon at times. I am trying to be nice because I truly like the guy. But just stay the hell away from the Avs okay.

Number 3 is not using any buy outs. Those were fought for by the NHL damn well use them. Memo to Joe and Patrick you go some serious deadweight in places. You also have the power to remove it from the team. I can’t see two guys like Roy and Sakic with a passion for winning keeping the deadweight and not using a buyout or two.

Number 4 directly ties into number 3. If you don’t buy some guys move some anyways you can. Sad fact but once again the Avalanche back end needs re-haul. I am not sure why this keeps happening but it does. It needs to stop the Avs need a good defense for at least one year. I think every Avs fan wants to see that. Not a Defense filled with guys who can’t score. Not a defense filled with offense guys who can’t defend if their lives depend on it. The Avs need a nice blend of both to help the goalies out and put pucks in the other end. Anderson doesn’t play there anymore, not time for 40 shot nights anymore.

These are all just my opinions that I am sure some of you share. Of course there are probably people who think I am crazy as well. That is sports not everyone will agree with you. I think Roy and Sakic are smart enough not to make these mistakes so really I am not worried. But if they do happen I see the new found excitement disappearing fast. Avs fans need more changes to keep this excitement going and no the ice girls don’t count! What do you guys think any bad moves the team could make that would hurt your faith and excitement?
