Roman Will: My last day at the camp

Roman Will: My last day at the campEurolanche brings you exclusive diary of Roman Will who is on the Colorado Avalanche roster for the rookie training camp.

Roman Will has just finished his first NHL training camp after three days of participating at rookie camp within the Avalanche organization. “I was feeling good about my game before the start of the training camp. I did not feel nervous and we got used to altitude and now we know what to expect next. It is great that such a thing as this camp for young players exists,” described his feelings Will right after the end of the camp for Eurolanche.

Last training for rookies continued yesterday. “There were no problems with the ice so we started with goalie training. Then we practiced different kinds of game situations and we also played two against two on two nets in one period which was mostly about physical contact and hard work,” said Will. The different thing from Tuesday was the fact that goalies did not have to do tough skating at the end of the training known as “Mountains” but they were allowed to do their own exercises.

Even though Patrick Roy did not participate in none of these three trainings, he was watching everything from his office. After all, coaches seemed to be satisfied with the camp according to Will but there have not been any individual discussions with players yet. “No player has packed his things and moved yet.  On Thursday, players from the first team are going to have the same tests as we had on Sunday. After that, there are going to be meetings with coaches and a barbecue for the whole team,” said Czech goalie who will definitely remember hard shots of Michael Schumacher.
