Yakupov scores two goals to lead AvsThe official game recap Colorado Avalanche vs Boston Bruins.

Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves for his first shutout of the season, and Nail Yakupov scored twice to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-0 win against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Monday. 

Sven Andrighetto and J.T. Compher also scored for the Avalanche (2-1-1), who are unbeaten in their past 12 games in Boston (11 wins, one tie). The Bruins' last win at home against the Avalanche was March 30, 1998. Varlamov has 22 NHL shutouts. 

Tuukka Rask made 19 saves for the Bruins (1-1-0), who played without center Patrice Bergeron for the second straight game because of a lower-body injury. Andrighetto got the Avalanche on the scoreboard at 4:41 of the first period with a wrist shot from the high slot off a pass by Mikko Rantanen.

The Avalanche made it 2-0 with a shorthanded goal at 13:22. Carl Soderberg won a battle in the Avalanche zone and then led a 2-on-1 that Compher finished with a shot past Rask on the short side. Yakupov scored at 6:07 of the third period to make it 3-0, and then closed the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:16.
