Invasion X was one of the best in history
David Puchovsky´s short recap of Invasion X. Another participant will write a big summary soon. After my nine appearances at the Eurolanche Invasion project, I can say its tenth edition known as Eurolanche Invasion X has become one of the best in our history. Yes, there did not participate a large number of fans like at two previous years (12 and 10), but I welcomed it for many reasons. Both large and small numbers of participants have each pros and cons. This year, we were five and still had a fun and experienced a great trip which has become a part of our successful story.
What Invasion X was about?
- we drove for more than 4500 km (3000 miles), the most in our history
- it indicates the schedule was the busiest as well
- yes, it was always busy, but this year we had not even a free window when we wouldn´t know what to do
- maybe the only exception was a waiting at the café in Columbus for the game as it was too cold outside
- we always knew what we should do in the next hours
- 99% of the schedule was completely new
- even for me after so many years
- we came back to only one place in Colorado besides Denver Downtown (the Red Rocks)
- and to Chicago that was a part of the Invasion VII
- we saw many new places in Colorado
- for the first time ever there was organized meeting with Joe Sakic, no unexpected meeting after the practice like last years
- we watched seven Avalanche games and they won four of them
- three losses came up in the overtime making a record of total 11 points
- and that is the most in the Invasion history
- a premiere was to have own suites at the hotel, not standard apartments
- a huge space for the same price
- the weather was amazing, almost summer
- I never had so many sunny and hot days at one trip before
- literally, it was sunny and hot every single day in Colorado
- a ratio of the USD and Euro was very, very good and hard to compare with last year's when it was almost 1:1
- outside Colorado, we did not just drive, but visited interesting places and attractions too like for example the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or the National Air Force Musuem
- we visited the Falcon Stadium the future hosting place of the Avalanche outdoor game
- we visited the Colorado Eagles stadium and got know their staff
- we met new friends, contacts and got many useful new information
