Eurolanche celebrates its 11th anniversaryThe Eurolanche Fan Club was founded in 2007.

The Eurolanche Fan Club celebrates 11th anniversary on August 12, 2018. The first European fan club of the Colorado Avalanche has become the biggest, the most sophisticated and the longest existing fan club of any NHL team in the world. As of today, there are 871 registered Eurolanche members, with thousands of followers and fans following the Fan Club via social media. The membership base is made up of members from 43 different countries from 6 continents that underline the global meaning of the entire project. Eurolanche membership is free of charge.

 

The complete story of the Fan Club was summed up in its own book titled "10 years of Eurolanche", which was published in both English and Slovak in limited circulation in 2017, which makes the Fan Club even more unique.

 

Both Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and Denver mayor Mike Hancock sent congratulatory letters to Eurolanche on its 10th anniversary.

 

 

In its 11-year history, Eurolanche organized 10 trips to Colorado (Eurolanche Invasion) to attend Avalanche games at the Pepsi Center and in other states as well. In total, 59 members from 10 different countries went to 63 Avs games in person. They visited 10 states, as well as Canada and Mexico.

 

In November 2017, Eurolanche organized a mass trip (Eurolanche Raid 2017) of 59 of its members to two Colorado Avalanche games against the Ottawa Senators in Stockholm, Sweden. 

 

Eurolanche members met with more than a dozen current and former Avalanche players at individual events in both in the US and in Europe. The list includes Joe Sakic, Uwe Krupp, Milan Hejduk, Peter Budaj, Jan Hejda, Sven Andrighetto and others. Some of these meetings were organized for weekends as bonding trips for Fan Club members in various cities all across Europe.

 

Furthermore, Eurolanche organized 11 member meetings, viewing parties during the season and sport activities in the offseason, including an anniversary meeting in the High Tatras in Slovakia on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.

 

Throughout the years, all major NHL media published articles and/or reports about Eurolanche over the years, with many of them quoting the Fan Club as a credible source of Avalanche news. The list of media appearances includes the Avs’ official website, NBC Sports, NHL.com, The Hockey News, Denver Post, Altitude TV, Fox 21, Fox 31, CBS Denver and many others.

 

Eurolanche conducted interviews with almost 100 players and other people connected to the Colorado Avalanche organization.

 

 

For its followers, Eurolanche published more than 10 000 articles and organized more than 60 contests for various Avalanche merchandise and players autographs.
