Eurolanches celebrates its 12th birthday
The Fan Club was founded back in 2007.Today, the Eurolanche Fan Club commemorates 12 years since its creation. Not only did the Fan Club become the first European fan club of the Colorado Avalanche, but throughout the years, it grew to become its biggest fan club in the entire world. With its longstanding tradition and number of activities and events, Eurolanche is unrivaled among any other fan projects in the entire NHL. A total of 934 members from 44 countries are part of the Fan Club, as any Avalanche supporter is free to join Eurolanche. The Fan Club also has over 9 000 followers on social media.
During its 12 years in existence, Eurolanche has organized 11 trips to Colorado and the US. A total of 70 members from 10 countries attended 71 Avalanche games thanks to the Eurolanche Invasion project, also including the outdoor game against the Detroit Red Wings and several away games. Apart from Colorado, the participating members also visited 12 other US states, as well as both Canada and Mexico.
In 2017, the Fan Club organized the Eurolanche Raid 2017 on the occasion of the Avs’ double-header against the Ottawa Senators in Stockholm, Sweden, with over 50 members taking part.
Fan Club members could also meet up at 12 member meetings, at the recent trip in Normandy, at the 10th anniversary meeting in Slovakia, or at numerous meetings with both former and current Avalanche players. Over the years, Eurolanche has met with the likes of Milan Hejduk, Sven Andrighetto or Uwe Krupp. Go here for all events.
Eurolanche’s history also includes nine editions of its popular Eurolanche League betting competition, which offers special souvenirs and memorabilia to its three best participants. The Fan Club also holds regular competitions, offering its members dozens of chances throughout the years to win player autographs and other unique souvenirs.
Eurolanche’s own book titled “10 Years of the Eurolanche Fan Club” published in 2017 further commemorates its history, offering and in-depth, personal account of its story as told by its founder and president David Puchovsky. Then-governor of Colorado and current US presidential candidate John Hickenlooper and Denver mayor Mike Hancock also paid tribute to Eurolanche’s 10th anniversary via commemorative letters.
Dozens of European and North American media outlets have published reports and articles about Eurolanche, including NHL.com, NBC Sports, The Hockey News, Altitude TV or ProHockey.
Eurolanche has conducted over 100 interviews with players or other people connected with the Colorado Avalanche franchise.
The Fan Club’s most active members are simultaneously part of its Yeti Ultras group, with the only membership condition being to participate at at least one Eurolanche event in two years.
