Eurolanche Invasion XII begins tomorrow

Eurolanche Invasion XII begins tomorrowTwelve Fan Club members will embark on Eurolanche’s twelfth trip to Colorado.

Eurolanche, the first European and biggest Colorado Avalanche fan club, as well as the biggest fan project in the entire NHL with more than 1000 registered members and thousands of social media followers and supporters, is organizing its twelfth trip to the US under the name Eurolanche Invasion XII. A total of 12 Fan Club members from four countries – Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and, for the very first time, Slovenia – will spend 17 nights in the US between February 11 and February 27. During those two and a half weeks, the group will attend eight Colorado Avalanche games, travel thousands of miles across the US and visit Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Mexican town of Tijuana.

“As soon as we got the first unofficial information about the Avalanche’s second ever outdoor game two years ago, we knew that we simply couldn’t miss such an event. We’re looking forward to all eight games, dozens of sightseeing trips, new experiences and great hockey the Avs’ are currently playing. It’s going to be yet another unique trip in our history,” said Eurolanche’s founder and president David Puchovsky

For the third time in the history of the Eurolanche Invasion project, a record number of Fan Club members – 12 in total – will take part in the trip. For organizer David Puchovsky from Slovakia, the trip will be his record-setting eleventh overseas adventure. Slovaks Peter Junek and Tomas Oliva will return to the US for the second year in row. Tomáš will be joined by his brother David Oliva, who’ll make his Invasion debut. Their countrymen Juraj Culak and Jozef Illes will return to North America for the second time following a hiatus spanning several years. The Czech Republic will be represented by three Eurolanche members – Marek Korber is returning for his second trip after taking a year off, while both Vaclav Berounsky and Martin Bednar are first-time participants. Ben Robinson, a native of Great Britain, will join the group from Sweden, returning to Denver, albeit for the first time with Eurolanche. Last but not least, Bostjan Cernensek from Slovenia will not only make his Invasion debut, but he will also be the first Slovene to take part in the project.

The group will attend five Avalanche home games against the Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres. Hockey-wise, the main event of the schedule will be the 2020 NHL Stadium Series game against the Los Angeles Kings at Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium. For Eurolanche, this will be the second NHL outdoor game after participants of Invasion VIII visited the Avs’ Stadium Series game against the Detroit Red Wings. Invasion XII will also include two away games against Los Angeles and the Anaheim Ducks. By attending eight Avalanche games for only the second year in row and overall, the group will equal the project’s record of attended Avs games during a single trip.

The two games against LA will be the very first in Invasion history, the same goes for the game against Buffalo. Invasion participants have attended games against Washington, Tampa Bay and the Islanders once before, the game against Ottawa and Anaheim will be the third and fifth in project history respectively.

The Invasion XII schedule also includes a road trip to California for Colorado’s two away games against the Kings and Ducks. The group will travel to the West Coast by plane and return to Denver by car. While in California, the participants will go sightseeing in Los Angeles, visit the border town of Tijuana, spend a night in Las Vegas and spend the next three days driving around the US, taking stops at places like the Grand Canyon and many others. The participants will drive roughly 2 500 kilometers during this road trip alone.

The Invasion XII schedule also includes an NBA game, meetings with both former and current Colorado Avalanche Players, cross-country skiing in Aspen, a group photo with Peter Forsberg, trip to the Rocky Mountains and dozens of other activities, including meeting with Eurolanche’s US-based friends.
