Avalanche signs Cumiskey Avalanche signs Cumiskey to one-year deal.

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed defenseman Kyle Cumiskey to a one-year contract through the 2011-12 season.

“We are pleased to have Kyle under contract and look forward to seeing him at training camp,” said Avalanche General Manager/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman

Cumiskey, 24, tallied eight points (1g/7a), but was limited to 18 games with Colorado in 2010-11, due to injuries.

Colorado’s ninth selection (seventh round, 222nd overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft, Cumiskey has skated in 132 career NHL games, tallying 35 points (9g/26a).  The Abbotsford, B.C., native led all Colorado defensemen with seven goals and finished with 20 points in 61 games in 2009-10.  He also dressed in all six playoff games for the Avs that spring, tallying a goal and one assist while leading the club in ice time at 22:37 per game.
