Stastny the soccer fan

After arriving in Munich to join his new hockey team Red Bulls
Munich during the lockout, Paul Stastny revealed his
plans in Germany. Being a huge soccer fan, the new superstar in Munich said
that he definitely wants to attend to at least one game of the local soccer
team FC Bayern Munich.
The number 26 of
the Colorado Avalanche landed in Munich on Friday morning in Munich at the
Franz Josef Strauß airport in time and jumped on another plane from Munich to
Hannover to catch the away game of his new club in the north of Germany. During
the flight, he read books of one of his favourite writers Dan Brown: " I love his stories. I like this stlye of entertaining
books with a historical background.....I like this way of being entertained and
learning at the same time something about history", he told the german newspaper Abendzeitung München.
Besides his reading
habits, Stastny made clear that he wanted to play in a beautiful city, with a
competitive team together with some people he knows. This is the case with the
other NHL-star from the Munich hockey team, Blake Wheeler. Stastny has had a
regular short messaging contact with Blake to get some information about the EH
Red Bulls Munich team. Stastny and Wheeler played together for the US national
team for a few times and are good friends. Furthermore, both players share one
and the same agent, which made it easy for Munich's general manager. Although
Munich's main sponsor from Austria, Red Bull, is definitely capable to afford
numerous NHL stars for their teams, the salary and insurance fee for Wheeler
and Stastny are settled from the side sponsor drive.de - a car rental company.
Coming back to
Stastny's wish to play in a beatiful city, Paul made clear "that you definitely have to
feel like a winner in this city. Especially when you are a huge soccer fan". He insisted
that he definitely has to see a soccer game of FC Bayern Munich in the
Champions league - a European soccer tournament, where Europe's best soccer
teams are competing for a trophy. "I have to see Schweinsteiger and also Lahm", Stastny
said.
Hopefully, Stastny
finds some time in Munich to see one of the best European soccer teams
competing in the champions league besides playing hockey. Whereas Stastny
ususally wears number 26 in Colorado, he will wear number 11 in Munich as
number 26 is already worn by the player Brent Aubin.
