O´Byrne signed with Florida of the ECHL

O´Byrne signed with Florida of the ECHLThe Colorado Avalanche defenseman will play in the minor league for the lockout period.

Ryan O´Byrne is the fifth player of the Colorado Avalanche who has signed „a lockout contract“. He agreed on the terms with Florida Everblades of the ECHL, which are currently on the fourth place in the division. O´Byrne´s coaching in the BCHL league is finished. This news was confirmed by Adrian Dater on his Twitter.

Previously, Semyon Varlamov, Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog and Paul Stastny have signed the contracts in Europe for the period of the lockout. O´Byrne is the first Avalanche player who will play, but also will stay in North America.

O´Byrne does not have to be last player from the Mile High City, who has signed the lockout contract. The NHL are the NHLPA are still far apart. Also the presence of the mediators did not help both sides. There are speculations that owners could meet directly with players, but who knows. To be honest, the situation looks very bad.
