Kieran Millan called up to Lake ErieKieran Millan called up to AHL's Lake Erie Monsters.

The Denver Cutthroats announced today that rookie goaltender Kieran Millan has been called up to the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.

Millan becomes the fifth different player from the Cutthroats roster to be called up to the AHL this season along with Markus Lauridsen, Jamie MacQueen, Dean Strong, and Gabriel Beaupre. MacQueen, Strong, and Beaupre are currently in Lake Erie.

The Edmonton, Alberta native began his pro career this season after completing a four-year run at Boston University, where he captured the 2009 NCAA National Title. After starting the season in training camp with Lake Erie, Millan was assigned to the Cutthroats and has put together an 8-6-2 record with a 2.36 GAA and a .929 SV% -- both among the goaltending leaders in the Central Hockey League.

The 23-year-old was a fifth-round draft pick of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche in 2009.

Millan is scheduled to join the Monsters immediately.  The Cutthroats have signed goaltender Mike Garman.
