Dropped by Blues

Evgeny Grachev scored his third goal in four preseason games, and Adam Cracknell and David Backes added goals to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night.
The Avalanche cut the Blues' deficit to one on two occasions, but fell to a
Blues squad that is 2-1 in preseason action.
Colorado rookie Tyson Barie
ended Jake Allen's shutout bid with
a shot from the top of the left circle at 12:48 of the third. It was Barrie's
second goal and third point in two straight contests, earning a point on every
Avalanche goal scored in the preseason thus far.
Paul Stastny scored
for the Avalanche from up at 19:15 of the 3rd period, but it wasn't enough, as
the Avalanche fall to 0-2 in preseason play.

From Denver Post: The Avalanche will likely begin its season Oct. 8 against Detroit without forward Brandon Yip and defenseman Jan Hejda.
Yip broke a forearm blocking a shot Friday night in the preseason home
opener against the St. Louis Blues, and afterward Avs coach Joe Sacco announced
that Hejda will miss two to four weeks with a knee injury.
