Avs beat Sharks in OT by score of 3-2

The Avs look to get a big win tonight against the Sharks. Starting for the Avs tonight Forwards: Matt Duchene, Jamie McGinn, PA Parenteau; Defense: Ryan O'Byrne, Matt Huwnick; Goalie: Semyon Varlamov. Zanon, Barrie and Olver are scratches tonight. Barrie sitting out his second consecutive game and Zanon is out because of the return or Ryan Wilson to the lineup.
The Avs get the first PP of the game at the 14 minute mark of the first. The Avs continue the good work on the PP and get the game’s first goal. Duchene get the goal with assists from Parenteau and Landy. It really is so nice to see Duchene with a solid winger for the long term in Parenteau. Late in the first the Avs get their second PP of the game. The Avs do not convert on the PP but have some good chances. The Avs have a good first period out shooting the Sharks 15-10 and getting the 1-0 lead.
The Sharks get their first PP of the game early in the second period. The Avs kill it off with some big saves from Varly. Shortly after killing of the PK the Avs strike again to take a 2-0 lead. O’Reilly the goal off a terrific pass from Palushaj as well Mitchell gets an assist. The Sharks go right back on the PP after the Avs goal but once again cannot score. The Avs take another penalty in the second to give the Sharks their third straight PP. The Sharks negate their own PP by taking a penalty that gives the Avs a shorten PP. Both teams do not convert are their PP’s. The Sharks get a goal late in the period to make it 2-1 for the Avs.
The Avs get a PP but quickly lose it as O’Reilly gets called for interference to make it 4 on 4. The Sharks get a short PP after do not score but then quickly back on a full PP. Varly makes a huge save right off the beginning of the PP. thanks to that save and some more from Varly the Avs get the kill. The Sharks once again strike late in a period to get a goal and tie the game. The game goes to OT tied up at 2-2 at the end of the third.
Matt Duchene gets the goal in OT with just 0.3 seconds left in OT. The goal had to be reviewed to see if it did beat the clock. Parenteau and Hejda get the assists on the OT goal. The Avs win the game by a score of 3-2.
