Avs on WC (6.): Landy voted as Best player

The 6th day of this year´s IIHF World Championship brought us some interesting and some less interesting matches. Important news for Avs fans is that Gabriel Landeskog scored his first two goals in tournament!
First
game of the day was Austria-Germany. Thomas Pock played for Austria in
not really exciting match where both teams were focusing mainly on defense. As Austria lost the game 0-2, he obviously didn’t
manage to score any points, so his only appearance in after game´s statistics is
2 minutes penalty.
Important game was played in Helsinki and it was a clash for second place in group. Team USA won this game against Finland 4-1 also thanks to 2 assists on goal made by Paul Stastny. Palushaj, Hunwick and E. Johnson didn’t add any other points. Main engine of today´s win was without any doubt the best player of the game – Craig Smith. His hat-trick made the difference and got 3 important points for USA.
In the last game today we watched our captain Gabriel Landeskog and his first goal in tournament. It was a very important moment as it was first goal of the game. Landeskog added also second one in 3rd period into empty net. Not only that Landeskog scored two goals, but he also improved his playing style and was preparing lot of chances for his team mates. It is a shame, they were not able to score, but still, Sweden won rather easily 5-1 against Norway and Landy was voted the best player of the game!
Day 6 results:
Germany – Austria 2:0
Switzerland – Slovenia 7:1
