Avs on WC (7): Day full of surprises

Avs on WC (7): Day full of surprisesAlong with the daily results, we also focus on Avs players at WC.

The 7th day of this year´s IIHF World Championship is already behind us and yet again, Avalanche players were in action. So here is the summary of today´s games.

Already the first game showed that everything is possible on this WC. France won against one of the biggest candidates for gold medals – Russia. It was the biggest surprise yet and luckily Varly was just a backup goalie to witness this humiliation.

Just after this game, Czech team struggled again and won against Denmark after shootouts 2-1 only. Still losing one point to a team like Denmark can be also considered as a huge surprise. Marcus Lauridsen and Jan Hejda played both full game. Only one of them got his name into statistics and not in a good way. Hejda was on ice when Denmark scored their only goal of the game.

Slovakia faced Latvia and also in this match we saw a surprising result in the end. Latvia won 5-3 and only confirmed that today was day full of surprises!

Last game on the schedule was big clash of Sweden and Canada. Tre Kronor lost the game 0:3. Gabriel Landeskog (captain´s assistant for this game) made 2 shots on goal but with no effort. Matt Duchene this time didn’t add any points either, so the only Avs players who gained some points was Ryan O Reilly. He added one assist to his statistics.

Day 6 results:

France – Russia 2:1

Czech – Denmark 2:1 OT

Slovakia Latvia 3:5

Sweden – Canada 0:3
