Bye, bye old jumbotron!

There were many rumors last season that the Colorado Avalanche and other teams
based in Pepsi Center were going to
install a new jumbotron for the 2013/14 season. The installation should be part
of many upgrades on the list for the arena which also includes a better sound system
and leather seats in the lower level.
The Avalanche finally confirmed the installation
of the new jumbotron a few days ago. It
will be the biggest jumbotron of its category with its width spanning from blue
line to blue line. Some fans have started to ask themselves if its
wideness will not have some negative impact on watching hockey from the upper
levels. We will see and I bet many Eurolanche members will have a chance
to watch it in the future during the Eurolanche Invasion.

The old jumbotron is already a part of the
history. The smaller and much older version had been installed in Pepsi Center
in 1991, when the arena was opened. There was a grey background with some kind of
yellow text as the stats information. When you watched the highlights of the
game, it had never been in HD. It was really a disaster if you compare it with
other NHL arenas.
Eurolanche
will always remember the old jumbotron. We have nothing but good memories of it. We have appeared several times on the old jumbotron during previous
Eurolanche Invasions. Moreover, we were interviewed twice during the intermissions
and the interviews were broadcasted live on the jumbotron. You can watch them in
the Multimedia section.
Eurolanche´s exclusive photos:

The Colorado Avalanche published the official photo
that shows the final moments of the old jumbotron. Days before this post, the
Eurolanche exclusively received the same photos from our own source. We also asked the team what was going to
happen with the old jumbotron, but they did not know.
