Cutthroats sign four players

Cutthroats sign four playersThe Denver Cutthroats' roster continues to grow as four players return for the 2013-14 season.

Forward A.J. Gale returns to the ice for his second season with the Denver Cutthroats this fall. His speed on the ice and ability to find the net makes him a key component to the Cutthroats offense. Gale was the leading scorer for the Cutthroats during the inaugural season with 46 goals and 84 points in 64 games.

"A.J. is one of the more potent offensive forwards in the Central Hockey League," said Denver Cutthroats Assistant Coach Brad Smyth. "His combination of speed and ability to shoot the puck will continue to help us during the upcoming season."

Cutthroats welcome back Colorado native Luke Fulghum. Returning to the Cutthroats roster after a successful 2012-13 campaign, in which Fulghum notched 53 points, 20 goals and 33 assists as a power forward. “Luke Fulghum will provide some very solid two-way play for us,” said assistant coach Brad Smyth. “He has a cannon for a shot down the wing and he will help provide some veteran leadership for some of our younger players.”

Defenseman Phil Tesoriero will hit the ice for his second season with the Denver Cutthroats in October. Tesoriero was the sole player to advance from last season’s open tryouts and join the team’s inaugural lineup for the complete 2012-13 season. Playing 62 games, Tesoriero scored 4 goals with 4 assists and 36 penalty minutes. "The Cutthroats are excited to have Phil return to the lineup for the 2013-2014 season,” exclaimed Smyth. “He excelled at the inaugural Free Agent Camp and through hard work and determination had a successful rookie season."

Joining Fulghum and Tesoriero for a second season on the ice for the Cutthroats is defenseman Michael Trebish. Trebish began the 2012-13 season with the Bloomington Blaze until he was traded to the Denver Cutthroats mid-season. Playing 19 games with the Cutthroats, Trebish had 3 assists and 32 penalty minutes with a plus/minus rating of plus 2. "The team is happy to have Michael commit to the Cutthroats for the coming season,” said Smyth. “He is a good skater who has the ability to make life difficult for the opposition's forwards.” Continue to follow the growing roster as the Cutthroats season quickly approaches.
