Svatos will play in Slovakia

Former Avs player Marek Svatos has agreed to a contract with HC Kosice (Slovak Elite League). Svatos, who grew up with hockey in Kosice, Slovakia will play for the team until the end of the this season. HC Kosice is one of the most successful team in Slovak Elite League.
„Marek joined the team three weeks ago and today we agreed on a contract. We signed a contract until the end of the season, but we left it open for both sides. He will play his first game at September 27th at home against Banska Bystrica,“ said president of HC Kosice Juraj Mondík for the official team website.
Svatos began with professional hockey in season 1999-00 in HC Kosice. At young age he went overseas to the WHL, where he played two seasons for Kootenay Ice. In 2001, he was drafted by Colorado Avalanche in round 7. In season 2002-03 he started playing in the Avs affiliate Hershey Bears (AHL). In 2003-04 he made his NHL debut and played 4 games in the Avs uniform. He played in AHL for the whole next season, but it was his last time at the NHL affiliate.
From 2005-06 to 2009-2010 he was a regular part of the Avs first team. He started season 2009/10 in the KHL at Omsk, but after a couple of games he tried his luck in NHL again in jerseys of Predators and Senators. Unsuccessfully.
He missed the whole season 2011-12, and returned to hockey at 2012-2013 in jersey of HC Slovan Bratislava (KHL). Unfortunatelly, he played only in 6 games and didn’t get new contract for season 2013-2014.
