Clark Mentor Monster

Clark Mentor MonsterClark back in the Avs family good for young guys.

Brett Clark has now played 4 games with the Lake Erie Monsters at this point. He has one assist and is a minus 2. Besides all that it is kind of nice to have Clark back in the Avs family in some way.

I really hope he sticks around with the team. Even if Clark doesn’t ever make it to the NHL again he is still a good defense man. He had some good seasons with the Avs. Two season over 30 points. He was a shot blocking machine. A very good team guy it was a shame to see him go.

But now he is back in the organization where he can do the most good. I think a guy like Clark could be a great mentor player in the AHL. He could help the young guys like Stephan Elliot and Duncan Siemens bring it up to the next level. A guy like Clark with over 650 NHL game under his belt is always good. He can teach the young guns what it takes to stick around.

Sure he is having a hard time doing that himself. At age 36 he may not be the best choice these days for an NHL blue line. I think maybe in a non-salary cap world he may have had a chance at an NHL roster. A lot of good players get cut out cause teams just don’t want to take the chance on older guys they can’t send through waivers.

So welcome back to the family Brett Clark! I hope you have many more games with the LEM. Maybe even see you in a good old Avs sweater for fun. Teach those young guns how to play a tough gritty game. As always Go Avs Go!
