Preview: Bruins against AvalancheOfficial game preview Colorado Avalanche vs Boston Bruins.

The Colorado Avalanche got a last-second goal by Daniel Briere to defeat the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Oct. 13, 2014. Reto Berra made 27 saves to earn the victory.

Bruins team scope: Boston is playing the second half of a back-to-back on the road after defeating the Dallas Stars 3-1 on Tuesday for its sixth victory in seven games. Tuukka Rask made 36 saves, and the Bruins got goals by Loui Eriksson, Gregory Campbell and Dougie Hamilton. Rask has started each of Boston's past five games, and coach Claude Julien might opt to use backup Niklas Svedberg. Boston killed off all six Dallas power plays, and is 33-for-35 in the past nine games. The Bruins will have forward Brad Marchand available after he served the second of his two-game suspension Tuesday.

Avalanche team scope: Colorado returns home after going 1-2-2 on a five-game road trip that ended with a 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Monday. "Four points out of 10; you'd like to have a little bit more than .500," coach Patrick Roy said after practice Tuesday. "But if you look at the trip we had, it was a tough one." All-Star defenseman Erik Johnson has been receiving a number of maintenance days, but Roy said after practice that Johnson will be ready to play and that Semyon Varlamov will start in goal.
