Hellebuyck could start for Jets vs Avs

Season series: Three third-period goals gave the Colorado Avalanche a 4-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre on Nov. 23. Goaltender Semyon Varlamov made 20 saves for Colorado; Winnipeg's Michael Hutchinson made 25. Carl Soderberg, Cody McLeod, Matt Duchene and Blake Comeau scored for Colorado; Toby Enstrom had the goal for Winnipeg.
Jets (11-11-2) team scope: Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck could start a second consecutive game after winning his NHL debut 3-1 against the Minnesota Wild on Friday. If Hellebuyck doesn't, it would be Hutchinson, who has allowed three or more goals in each of his past four starts. Winnipeg has a power-play goal in each of its past two games after scoring twice on the man-advantage in the previous 11 games. The Jets finish a three-game road trip; nine of the past 13 games have been on the road (4-8-1). A two-game homestand starts against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Dec. 2.
Avalanche (8-13-1) team scope: Varlamov will start a third consecutive game, according to the Colorado website. "[Varlamov is] our No. 1 goalie, and I'm behind him," coach Patrick Roy said. Varlamov was pulled after allowing three goals on 15 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday. "I said [to Varlamov], 'I'm with you for the good and the bad, and we'll find a way to get your game going,'" Roy said. Colorado recalled forward Andrew Agozzino from San Antonio of the American Hockey League and assigned forward Dennis Everberg to San Antonio; Agozzino is expected to play. Forwards John Mitchell (oblique) and Alex Tanguay (knee) are practicing, and Roy said they could be available next week when Colorado begins a four-game road trip.
