Eurolanche celebrates its ninth birthday

Eurolanche celebrates its ninth birthdayThe first European fan club of the Colorado Avalanche is nine years old.

The first European Fan Club of the Colorado Avalanche and currently the biggest Fan Club of any team in the NHL celebrates its ninth birthday. The idea to create Eurolanche first came up on August 12, 2007. In the following days, the initial Fan Club members came up with its name and created both the Fan Club’s logo and homepage. “Each and every year of Eurolanche’s existence is a big step forward for us. Each season brings new experience and teaches us new lessons, which we use to move forward. Nine years ago, I wouldn’t have believed the project would last as long as I did. Our thanks go out to all Fan Club members and our fans, because if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have a reason to continue doing what we do,” said Fan Club President and Founder David Puchovsky.

There are currently more than 600 registered members of Eurolanche from 40 countries from all around the world and thousands of fans on social media. As opposed to other fan sites, Eurolanche is in regular contact with players and people associated with the Avalanche franchise, publishing numerous exclusive interviews. More than 60 interviews were published in recent years. Also getting a lot of attention from the hockey world is the Fan Club’s Eurolanche Invasion project. During the course of its existence, Eurolanche has organized eight overseas trips with 44 fan club members from six different countries attending a total of 49 games.

Among the Fan Club’s biggest achievements are numerous articles about its activities published by media all around the globe. Recent examples are Jeremy Roenick’s live interview for NBC Sports during the Stadium Series game between Colorado and Detroit, an article in The Hockey News, coverage by Pro Hockey, NHL.com and The Denver Post, interviews for Altitude TV and FOX 31, an appearance in a discussion on the Slovak sports channel DIGI Sport and many more (click here for a complete list).

Also worth mentioning are seven meetings of Fan Club members, six meetings with Avalanche players and regular competitions for Avalanche souvenirs and memorabilia for Fan Club members. Aside from its homepage, Eurolanche also has two specialized websites – Invasion.Eurolanche.comStadiumSeries.Eurolanche.com.

The Fan Club’s ninth birthday also foreshadows its tenth anniversary. Eurolanche is preparing a number of special innovations for the entirety of the 2016/17 season, about which we’ll inform at Eurolanche.com in the near future.
