Postgame thoughts: Oilers

Postgame thoughts: OilersHold on, folks, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Ah, the wonderful world of the Avalanche fans! You really can't get bored with this team. I must confess I didn't had the time to watch the game in Vancouver, but I did watch this one, against the Oilers. The Oilers were missing TNG, but we were missing Duchene and Mueller, so it was more than fair. And again the Avs showed up.

O'Reilly
with three assists, Lando with a goal and an assist, same with Olver, Johnson killing it with a three games goal streak. But... As an Avs fan you have to wonder when will it all come crushing down again. Well, maybe not tonight. Duchene's back (now you see what I did with the picture? Duchene's back? You get it?) and they play the Jets.

What's the best thing about that? They're not in Avs' division. Because the win against the Oilers improved (if you can say that) Colorado to a 3-13 against division opponents. That's worst in the league, in case you're wondering. And to put things in an even better perspective, the Northwest division is not filled with great teams. Except Vancouver, the other four teams are 8th, 11th, 12th and 14th in the conference!

Don't you just feel like an Blue Jackets fan? Cause I do. Let's face it, we're living just through our memories of the good old days when the Avs were winning the division nine times in a row. But we're rebuilding now! And we're gonna be rebuilding for a very long time. We'll be rebuilding even after the Duchenes and Landeskogs of this team we'll go to a contender. The management will say then they got rid of the big contracts in order to make room for the prospects. What prospects, you say? Well, there's... I don't know, there's got to be someone.

Actually, except for the D-men, there's nobody. Olver is already here, Hishon is concussed, there'll be no 1st round draft pick this year. Man, I'm tired of saying that! I can hardly wait for the off season, for the new CBA and the new contracts, so that everybody will see just how this team is managed. And I'm hoping to be wrong. I won't be, though. And I have the perfect excuse for being cheap. Here it is, Sherman, write it down: "We're not gonna spend recklessly on FAs until we're a contender." You can tell Kroenke you came up with it.
Whatever... In other news, as they say on TV, Steve Moore's process is slowly making progress. So slow, that it makes you want to say to the NHL, the Canucks, Marc Crawford, Bertuzzi and the Avs "shame on you".

Now let's move on to the Jets game. And who knows, maybe tomorrow will find me in a better mood. Well, not tomorrow, since it's a bad day for me, but maybe the day after. An Avs will help a little. They're just 3 points out of the last playoff spot. Who knows... Strangers things have happened.
