Fourth win in five games

Defenseman Tyson Barrie scored a tiebreaking power-play goal with 5:39 left in the third period, and the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 at Pepsi Center on Friday.
Barrie scored on Colorado's eighth power play for a 2-1 lead. Mikko Rantanen passed to Barrie at the right point for a shot that hit a Ducks stick and eluded goalie Reto Berra.
Defenseman Nikita Zadorov scored an empty-net goal with one second left for the Avalanche (4-1-0), who won their third in a row.
The Ducks tied the game 1-1 on defenseman Brandon Montour's shorthanded goal at 2:14 of the third period. Montour was trailing the play when he took a pass from Andrew Cogliano and beat goalie Jonathan Bernier to the glove side for his first of the season.
The Avalanche took a 1-0 lead on a first-period power-play goal by Gabriel Landeskog at 11:58, his second. Rantanen passed to Landeskog at the right side of the net, and Landeskog swept the puck by goalie John Gibson, who faced 18 shots in the period.
Berra replaced Gibson to begin the second period, his first appearance of the season.
A goal by Colorado's Matt Nieto at 2:02 of the second period was immediately waved off because of goalie interference by Blake Comeau. The call was confirmed following a challenge by Avalanche coach Jared Bednar.
A goal by Colorado's J.T. Compher at 8:34 of the third period also was waved off because of goalie interference.
Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon sustained an eye injury when he was high-sticked by Ducks center Derek Grant at 12:54 of the first period and didn't return.
Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf was scratched because of a lower-body injury, the issue that caused him to miss the first two games of the season.
