Invasion X: Interview with David
Get to know the participants of the Eurolanche Invasion X, the Fan Club’s tenth overseas trip. Five Fan Club members from three countries will take part in theDavid Puchovsky, 27, hails from Bratislava, Slovakia, and will participate in the Eurolanche Invasion project for the ninth time as its main organizer. He founded the Eurolanche Fan Club in 2007 and has been its president ever since. He’s currently the head administrator of the official Facebook page of the Slovak Police. In the past, he wrote a book titled ‘Unesené’ (translated as Kidnapped) based on true events and real cases of child kidnappings. Last year, he published a book about the 10 years of Eurolanche.
You’ll return to Denver for the ninth time in total. Is there anything you haven’t seen yet? Is it even worth it to return each year?
During each new Invasion, I try to create a program, which will include places I haven’t been to before – as well as places, which every participant should see at least once. Moreover, our trips in the US aren’t only limited to the State of Colorado. We’ve already been to Canada and even in Mexico. This time, we’ll visit states, most of which I haven’t been to before. There’s always something new.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I always look forward to the trip in general, to being in Denver and Colorado. I view it as my second home of sorts, which is why I’m always happy to return. Trips to places we haven’t visited before and activities we haven’t done in the past are a nice bonus of each trip. There are a lot of those planned for Invasion X and I’m really curious to see which we’ll be able to do. Cross-country skiing in Aspen would be awesome, even though I’ve never done it before.
After all these years in Denver, is there something that can still surprise you?
Yes and no. I’ve got Denver and its vicinity mapped out pretty well. I know the local culture, the traditions and the locals. After all these years, I know what to expect from people. Nonetheless, there’s always something that manages to surprise me, be it the helpfulness of new friends, interview request for various media outlets, great experiences during our field trips and so on.
What do you think is the reason for the Invasion project’s success?
A good group of participants. This was particularly proved during last year’s Invasion IX. We were 10 in total, with everyone except me being in Denver for the very first time. We saw the Avalanche lose in all seven games we’ve been to. Do you think the participants viewed the trip as a failure? Absolutely not. We’ve experienced great things, we had fun and the overall atmosphere was great. From this point of view, I think it was the best Invasion yet, even though Invasion VIII had a better program solely because we’ve been to the Stadium Series game against Detroit. That’s why I think that a good group of participants is the recipe for success.
How long do you think the Invasion project will last?
That’s not up to me, but to our members. If there’ll be interest in going overseas, if there’ll be new people interested in visiting the US, then it’ll be worth it. For those who want to see Avalanche hockey in person and to experience two great weeks full of fun and adventure, there’s simply no better option. No travel agency can offer you such activities, such a rich program for such price.
Your prediction for the Avs’ record during the Eurolanche Invasion X?
5-2.
