Colorado in the playoffs: Day 9

Colorado in the playoffs: Day 9A daily news recap from the Avalanche camp during their run in the playoffs.

On Tuesday, the Colorado Avalanche held their first optional team practice of the playoffs. A total of 10 players hit the ice, including Sam Girard, who wore a red non-contact jersey and was thus limited in practice. Nonetheless, Girard being on the ice is a sight welcome by both Avs coaches and their fans.

Head coach Jared Bednar didn’t rule out the possibility that Girard could be ready for Game 4, but wouldn’t say much else. Girard’s presence would surely boost the Avs’ chances of tying up the series at 2 wins apiece.

At the time this article was published, we still didn’t know if and how PK Subban will be punished by the league’s Department of Players Safety for his sucker punch on Nathan MacKinnon. We only got a response from Subban, who said “I’ll do it again next game,” according to various reports.

In other news…

According to latest news, the Avs have an updated 1:75 chance of winning the Stanley Cup, the same as the New Jersey Devils. Only the Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings have lower odds of hoisting the Cup.

The first two games of the Colorado-Nashville series were the most viewed TV broadcasts in both Colorado and Tennessee.

San Antonio Rampage head coach Eric Veilleux will not resume his role with the Colorado Eagles as the Avs’ new AHL affiliate next season.
