Hassan received gifts from Colorado
The Avalanche honored the little hero from Ukraine. When the war in Ukraine broke out, many people from all over the world began to help those who needed it most – especially refugees. These volunteers were joined by several Eurolanche members. The Fan Club itself raised more than 2,500 euros via its fundraiser to buy medical supplies, which were then sent to Ukraine. Thousands more euros were raised by fans through their individual activities.
Eurolanche founder David Puchovsky began to help the family of 11-year-old Hassan. This wasn’t the first time the boy’s family had to run from war – ten years ago, they had to flee from civil war-torn Syria, the birthplace of the family’s father. Sadly, the father did not manage to escape... After settling down in the native country of their mother, they finally experienced several peaceful years, which were interrupted by the war with the Russian Federation. The family was once again forced to flee. Circumstances led to Hassan having to travel alone for several days. His story immediately caught the attention of the entire world. When Eurolanche gave Hassan a cap with the Colorado Avalanche logo, he immediately gained the attention of all Avalanche fans as well.
Hassan's story didn’t escape the attention of the Colorado Avalanche franchise itself. The Avalanche sent him a package of souvenirs and team merchandise, including a jersey with his own name and number. Hassan, meanwhile, has become a big fan of the Avs, which is proven by the poster of goalie Darcy Kuemper in his room.
The gifts were handed over to Hassan by Marián Gáborík and Boris Valábik, former Slovak hockey players with NHL experience. Both were moved by the family's fate and are already planning how they can help them.
Hassan sends a video message to Colorado: “I would like to thank the Colorado Avalanche. I’m their youngest player!”
Eurolanche would like to express its sincerest gratitude to the Colorado Avalanche organization, which not only noticed Hassan's story, but decided to surprise him with gifts that made him truly happy. This isn’t just a prime example of how to make someone happy, but how to raise lifelong fans as well.
Eurolanche and its members will continue to volunteer in support of Ukraine. We will regularly update you about the fate of Hassan and the new life of his entire family in Slovakia.
