The lockout nearing its end?

The possibility of a season not dead, at least not
yet. According to multiple sources including TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, RDS‘ Renaud Lavoie and the first one to break the news, Eklund of Hockey Buzz, the NHL has sent the NHLPA a new
proposal.
The biggest may be the fact, that the NHL is willing
to allow contracts to be a maximum of 6 years, when re-signing
a player 7, instead of the previous 5 year limit, which was a point
the owners wouldn’t walk away from.
Other main points of the new proposal include:
- · The contracts can have variances of 10% instead of a previously offered 5%.
- · The salary cap for the upcoming season would be $60 million.
- · Each team would have the option to buy out a contract prior to the upcoming season, which wouldn’t count against the cap.
- · According to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the proposed CBA is still a 10-year deal and is an „extremly detailed“ proposal
What’s interesting is the fact, that Bill Daly wouldn’t confirm the reported proposal and
the source of the news is an NHL player. The NHLPA has also yet to make an
official statement about the proposal.
No meetings are scheduled, yet there are a lot of
rumours that both sides will meet in the near future.
