NHL is back, lockout is over

NHL is back, lockout is overNHL and NHLPA have agreed on the framework of the new CBA.

Adrian Dater of Denver Post was the first who announced the end of the lockout. He was not even in New York, where most major NHL journalists stayed. They were woken up for the whole night because the talks between NHL and NHLPA took 16 hours.  Finally, the tentative deal is done and there are not other restrictions for the start of the season 2013/13.

Some information talks about 50-game season and the early start. The training camps could start in the middle of the next week. The tentative deal was confirmed by Gary Bettman and Don Fehr.

Details of new CBA:

  • cap hit 64.3 millions USD for the next season
  • cap floor: 44 mil. USD
  • 7 year max contracts
  • 8 year max contracts for own players
  • 10-year CBA deal with opt out after 8 years
  • Draft lottery will change. All 14 teams fully eligible for 1st pick overall. Weighting system may remain, but 4-move restriction out.
