Dater: O´Reilly is done with the Avs

Ryan
O´Reilly´s days with the Colorado
Avalanche are nearly done. This shocking or for somebody not shocking news
was published by Adrian Dater at
this Denver Post´s blog in
the chat with the Avalanche fans. Dater openly said he does not think
O´Reilly will be back in the Avs uniform. Ryan´s short, but well remembered era
in Denver is done.
Dater also sourced people who are close to Ryan. They believe O´Reilly will be traded away
to another NHL team. As we have known, many NHL teams contacted the
Avalanche management in this subject. Eurolanche´s opinion is that alone good
solution how to send O´Reilly away is trading him for very good player. Not
third liner, not a player with big question near to his name. Is it
possible with the current Avs policy? Who knows?
Dater posted great story on Denver Post´s website
later today. It opens the third option in the O´Reilly case. First one is
re-signing him and second one is a trade. Third option regards the offer sheet. Any NHL team could offer new
contract to O´Reilly. Then the Avs will have few days to match this offer. If
they will not do it, they would get draft picks from that NHL team as the compensation.
It could be a pack of the first and third round pick or first, second and
third round pick etc. The content of this pack depends on the amount of the
offer. Most realistic is to get first and
third round pick. Do
not miss to check out Dater´s story where i tis probably more clearly than here
in one paragraph.
For now, really nobody knows what will happen except
the management. According to the
previous cases in the Avalanche history, it is a small chance we will see
O´Reilly back in Denver. The Avs management is known for the policy „take-it-or-leave-it“.
According to several sources they offered two kinds of contract to Ryan: 7 million USD per 2 seasons and 17 million
per 5 seasons. The first option is my favorite. I really do not think
he deserves more than Matt Duchene.
Why O´Reilly wants more? I think that his KHL´s contract has opened his
eyes, but we cannot forget that most players in the KHL are overpaid. It is not
a business there. Finally, maybe O´Reilly does want to try another NHL
team. It is crazy. We will
definitely have more about O´Reilly and the Avs in the next days.
