True Believers

When the Colorado Avalanche started out so hot no one believed. Avs fans were telling other hockey fans we are for real. The saying “Why Not Us” became the Avs motto. The hashtag of #whynotus trended with Avs fans all over twitter. When the Avs finally made it to the top .They started to faultier and went on a 3 game losing streak.
What I saw during that losing streak is other team fans were not the only non-believers. The old feelings were back. The happy tune that went along with all the wins had faded. Avs fans were back to the pessimistic ways of the past seasons. The why hasn’t Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic done this yet? Why is Tyson Barrie in the minors? Why do we even let Matt Hunwick or Nick Holden play? These type of questions started popping up everywhere.
But hey now we have won two games in a row so everything should be good again right? Dead wrong on that one. The new car smell has worn off. We can all see now the Avs are human and will have bad games. We will lose games. Heck no one shoot me here but we might not even win the cup every year. It sucks to realize these things I know. I always say it is better to be an understanding supportive fan then an angry delusional one.
So let’s take a look at some cold hard truths. The Avs are in a tough new division with some serious powerhouses. With Matt Duchene and AlexTanguay injured the Avs are missing some big offense. The Avs defense can play the game but won’t win awards. The team needs upgrades on the back end still to hit that next level. They are going to lose games and have to fight tooth and nail to make the playoffs. That last one is more on the loser point system then the Avs.
Some good fun facts. The Avs are two points behind division leading Hawks with two games in hand. Nathan MacKinnon is having a great time on that top line. The Avs defenders are not as bad as everyone thinks either. Duchene might not be out that long. Varly is playing well still even with outside issues. The Avs are now winning and losing as a team. No more factions no more Vegas. Those guys are all for one now under Roy. So it really is “Why Not Us” time. So remember like Journey said just don’t stop believing. As always Go Avs Go!!
