Avs win in Shootout

The Avs face off against the Wild for the second time in two days. The back end of a home and home. The Avs won the first game in Minnesota 3-1. The Avs look to make it 2 wins in a row back home.
The Avs get on the board early off a goal from the Captain Gabe Landeskog. The newly formed line with Nathan MacKinnon and John Mitchell create the play on a somewhat fluky looking goal. Mitchel gets the lone assit on the goal.
The Avs get some good chances in the first including two 2-1 breaks. The best no goal chance goes to the Wild in the first. The puck just sat on the Avs goal line behind Varly for a few seconds before a Wild player pulled it out. The play was reviewed and deemed no goal. The first period ended with the Avs up 2-1 and both teams having 11 shots.
Much of the second period was a tad on the boring side. Not a whole lot of offensive chances for most of it. Varly did have to make some big save in the second half of the period to keep the Avs up. Then MacKinnon snipes a beauty of a goal home to give the Avs the 2-0 lead. Mitchell and Ryan O’Reilly get assists on the goal. The assist gives Mitchell his second point of the night and his 100th point of his career. The second ends with the Avs up 2-0
The third period is mostly the Wild. The avs have a few chances but the Wild dominate the third. Scoring two goals to tie it and force OT. The tying goal came with 4.3 seconds left in the third period.
Both team trade some chances in OT but no one scores we head to the shootout. The first two attempts by both teams are stopped. Factor is the third shooter for the Avs and undress Josh Harding. The Varly stones the last Wild shooter and wins the game. The Avs win back to back games over the wild. On to the next one as always Go Avs Go!
