Varlamov only on the bench today

During fourth day of the Olympic Ice Hockey tournament Colorado Avalanche had four players in action. In the battle for the lead in the A group team USA with Paul Stastny faced team Russia. In the net of team Russia was Sergei Bobrovsky instead of Semyon Varlamov. In group C Sweden with Gabe Landeskog faced team Latvia with Sandis Ozolinsh.
Game of two hockey countries and medal candidates started in high pace. Both teams played offensively and it was a really nice game. Both teams were in lead, but the game ended tied 2:2 and continued in overtime. Both teams had chances to win in overtime, but didn’t score so the game moved into shootouts. The shootout hero was TJ Oshie, who scored 4 times from 6 attempts (eight in total for team US), the last goal was the game winning goal. So far the best game of Olympics was won by team USA 3:2 SO.

Paul Stastny played 13 minutes and 54 seconds. He won 6 of 10 faceoff and had 2 shots on goal. He played a lot on penalty kills.
Semyon Varlamov did not play today.

The actual World Champions from Sweden were supposed to win this game easily. Sweden had more from the game, but in fact the game was close. Sweden made a lot of pressure on Latvian net, and Latvia used quick counterattacks. In the game there was a lot of nice chances on both sides, but Swedish team won the game 5:3.

Gabriel Landeskog spent on ice 15 minutes. He recorded -1 point. He was not so visible in the game, but he made his job well.
Latvian captain Sandis Ozolinsh played 16 minutes and 52 seconds. He made some really nice defensive plays, but also helped offense with 3 shots on Lundqvist. No points.
