Duchene vs. Landy: Battle for Gold!

Friday was the day of the Olympics semifinals. Both games were really interesting, because they were the derby matches. In first semifinals, Finland played against Sweden and in second Canada faced team USA. Colorado Avalanche had three players in action – Gabriel Landeskog for Sweden, Paul Stastny for USA and Matt Duchene for Canada.
Swedish team with no loss on the Tournament so far played in semis against their neighbor from Finland. The opening goal of the game was scored by Finnish forward Olli Jokinen, who scored a surprising goal on Henrik Lundqvist. But that was all by the Finns. First, Loui Eriksson made it even and the game winning goal was scored by the most productive player of the Tournament, Erik Karlsson. Sweden won the northern derby 2:1.
Gabriel Landeskog did not play much today. He spent only 11 minutes and 20 seconds on ice, what means he made 19 shifts during the game. He had only one shot on the goal, no points.

In the second semifinals we saw the replay of the 2010 Olympics finals. Team USA vs. team Canada. The game had its quality, but not many goals. Both teams had a reliable defense, so we didn’t saw a side-to-side hockey. The “Maple Leafs” scored a goal by Jamie Benn and won the game closely 1:0. The American team had 31 shots on the goal with some big scoring opportunities, but with no goal in the net of Canada.
Paul Stastny played again in the fourth line. He played only 9 minutes and 18 seconds. During this time he had only one shot on the goal. He won 4 of total 7 faceoffs.
Matt Duchene was also in the fourth line. His ice-time was 7 minutes and 56 seconds. He had one shot of the goal and he won 5 faceoffs of total 7. He won one faceoff against Paul Stastny.
USA - Canada 0:1 (0:0, 0:1, 0:0)
