Invasion VII: Interview with Tomas

Eurolanche Invasion VII starts on December 26. Seven Eurolanche members from Slovakia and one from Austria will be staying in Denver for 17 days. The main schedule includes a visit of seven Colorado Avalanche games and an in-person meeting with the players. The whole schedule of the seventh Invasion will be very busy as you can see in this story. The Invasion coverage starts on the mentioned day at www.invasion.eurolanche.com.
Tomas Vnuk, 29, was born in the city of Zilina and this will be his first visit to Colorado. He was in the stands for an Avalanche game in 2002, but the game was played in Nashville. Tomas was a part of the exchange student program during that time and lived and studied in the USA for one year. He has been an Avalanche fan since Uwe Krupp’s memorable goal in 1996. He now runs a solarium studio in his hometown.
Why did you decide to travel to Colorado?
My answer is very simple. I am going to fulfil my childhood dreams. Hockey is the number one sport for me and the Avs have been a part of my life for almost two decades. Finally, it's a chance to travel to Denver directly. I am going to enjoy it with other fans and nothing can stop me.
What are you expectatios for the trip?
I attended five NHL games in person in the past, but it was never in Denver. My expectations are that I will see my favorite team at home ice. So pretty big expecations. They didn’t start the season good, but I believe it will change when we arrive.
Tomas met Marian Gaborik in Columbus in 2013.
What are you looking forward on most?
Besides the NHL hockey it is a trip to San Francisco. It is one of the nicest places in the USA. Who doesn't know the successful series „The Streets of San Francisco“? Michael Douglas has become a star actor overnight thanks his role in this series.
Did you follow the Eurolanche Invasion in the past? If yes, what were your feelings?
I did and I am lucky that the biggest European Fan Club of an NHL team supports the Avalanche.
How does your preparation for the trip look like?
I just got the international driver's license as I will be one of our drivers. But generally, it is nothing special. My ESTA is valid since the last-year trip to USA and my passport is as well. I am ready to fly, even tomorrow!
What would you like to say to the fans who are still thinking about their participation in the trip for the future?
They have to save some money and then they have to use it. The atmosphere of an NHL game is hard to describe and every hockey fan should experience it at least once in his life. It is something incredible and hard to explain it in words.
