Avalanche try to rebound after lossOfficial game preview Colorado Avalanche vs Florida Panthers.

Season series: Goalie Roberto Luongo made 30 saves for win No. 375, and forward Brad Boyes scored a power-play goal 2:23 into overtime to give the Florida Panthers a 4-3 victory against the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 21 at Pepsi Center. Luongo is 13-0-2 in his past 15 games against Colorado.

Avalanche team scope: Colorado had Wednesday off following a 3-2 shootout loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. The Avalanche rallied from down 2-0 with two third-period goals but needed 44 saves (19 in the first period) from goalie Calvin Pickard. "Our first period was terrible," forward Matt Duchene told the Denver Post. "It's a big point and [Pickard] came up big for us. We got a couple of key goals there in the third." The Avalanche are 0-1-1 after winning three straight and five of six, and remain four points behind the Vancouver Canucks for the second wild-card spot into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. Colorado's five-game road trip continues with stops at the Tampa Bay Lightning and St. Louis Blues.

Panthers team scope: Florida earned eight of a possible 12 points (4-2-0) on its season-high six-game road trip, the most in franchise history, despite an 8-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. "We've just got to regroup, go back home and get ready for the next game," coach Gerard Gallant told The Associated Press. Florida, 29th in the NHL last season, is 13-6-3 in its past 22 games and three points behind the Boston Bruins for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with three games in hand. "We are right where we need to be," general manager Dale Tallon told the Miami Herald. "We're knocking on the door and now we have to push in." The Panthers, who were off Wednesday, will play 24 of their final 41 games at BB&T Center.
