Wild´s Dubnyk shuts out Avalanche again

Wild´s Dubnyk shuts out Avalanche againThe official game recap Minnesota Wild vs. Colorado Avalanche

Dubnyk made 18 saves for his fourth shutout in nine starts and Charlie Coyle scored in the first period in the Minnesota Wild's 1-0 win against the Colorado Avalanche at Xcel Energy Center.

Minnesota (25-20-6) has won five in a row and moved into a tie for ninth place in the Western Conference standings, one point ahead of Colorado (22-20-11), which has been shut out eight times this season. The Avalanche have not scored in three games against the Wild.

Dubnyk wasn't tested much until the final six minutes of regulation when the Avalanche got a power play with 5:51 remaining. Colorado, which had 12 shots on goal prior to the man-advantage, forced Dubnyk to make five saves in two minutes.

He got help from defenseman Jonas Brodin on one opportunity. After a shot by Matt Duchene snuck through Dubnyk's five-hole and toward the goal line, Brodin swept the puck away to preserve the shutout.

The Avalanche got goalie Semyon Varlamov to the bench with two minutes left and got one shot on Dubnyk.

Varlamov was fantastic, especially in the first period. Minnesota attempted 34 shots in the period and put 17 on net. Coyle tipped a shot from the point by Marco Scandella past Varlamov at 11:21.

Varlamov made 28 saves but fell to 0-3 against the Wild this season. It was the second game in a row he allowed one goal in a losing effort.
