Avalanche acquires Boedker from Arizona

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has acquired forward Mikkel Boedker from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for forward Alex Tanguay, forward Conner Bleackley and defenseman Kyle Wood.

Boedker, 26, ranks third on the Coyotes in scoring this season with 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) while appearing in all 62 games. The Bronby, Denmark, native ranks second on the club in assists and game-winning goals, and his 18:39 average ice time leads all Arizona forwards.

Boedker (prounounced MIH-kehl BAWD-kuhr) has recorded two hat tricks this season, both against the Ottawa Senators (Oct. 24 and Nov. 28). He has scored three overtime goals this year—including one against the Avalanche on Dec. 27 in Denver—tying the Coyotes single-season franchise record.

Selected by the Coyotes in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2008 Entry Draft, Boedker has registered 213 points (80 goals, 133 assists) in 445 career NHL games. The 6-foot, 211-pound left winger has also appeared in 20 playoff contests, tallying nine points (4 goals, 5 assists).

Tanguay has 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists) in 52 games for the Avalanche this year. Bleackley was Colorado’s first-round pick (23rd overall) and Wood its third-round selection (84th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft.
