The second day of the 2017 World Junior Championship in Canada saw the hosts facing off against Slovakia. Colorado Avalanche prospect Tyson Jost made his presence felt, as Canada cruised to an easy victory against the Slovak underdogs.

Canada – Slovakia 5:0 (0:0, 4:0, 1:0)

26. Lauzon (Gauthier, Jost), 31. Raddysh (DuBois, Chabot), 33. Cirelli (Lauzon, Speers), 37. Barzal (Strome), 43. McLeod (Cirelli, Dube)

Canada was the undisputed favorite of the matchup, but once again ran into a hot goalie in Slovakia’s Adam Húska. The hosts broke his spell in the second period, with Jeremy Lauzon opening the scoring. Jost earned an assist on the play. Lauzon’s goal jumpstarted the Canadian offense, as the hosts scored three more goals in the span of six minutes. The final frame had an exhibition feel to it and the Canadians managed to put one more puck behind Húska. The Slovaks tied the record for fewest shots during a game at the World Juniors, only managing six mostly harmless shots. Jost had a TOI of 14:33 and finished the night with the lone assist, no shots on goal and a rating of +1.

Jost has now earned two points (a goal and an assist) in as many games
