WJC: Jost to play for medalsTyson Jost and Team Canada will play against Sweden in the semifinals.

The quarterfinals of the 2017 World Junior Championship were played yesterday, with a single Colorado Avalanche prospect being involved in game action. Tyson Jost and Team Canada advanced past the Czech Republic thanks to a three-goal second period. Adam Werner was once again left out of the lineup as Sweden advanced past Slovakia.

Canada – Czech Republic 5:3 (0:1, 3:1, 2:1)

Although the hosts were considered the clear-cut favorite of the game, they got off to a slow start and were trailing the Czechs 1-0 after the opening period. Despite a sizeable disadvantage in shots on goal, the Czechs put up a fight and kept the game close until late in the third period. The hosts were led by the trio of Stephens, Gauthier and Chabot, who combined for 7 points. Tyson Jost failed to get on the scoresheet and finished the game with two shots on goal and a rating of -1.

Team Canada will face Sweden in the semifinals
