Cody McLeod helps Preds top Avs

Cody McLeod scored in his first game with the Nashville Predators, who added two third-period goals to defeat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 at Pepsi Center on Saturday.
McLeod was traded from the Avalanche on Friday.
McLeod scored his second of the season to get Nashville to within 2-1 at 7:52 of the second period. He beat Avalanche defenseman Eric Gelinas to the front of the net and converted a pass from Harry Zolnierczyk.
Nashville tied the game at 2-2 on a breakaway goal from Mike Fisher at 5:00 of the third. Fisher took a pass from Austin Watson, skated into the Avalanche zone and put a backhander past Varlamov's right pad for his 12th goal.
Filip Forsberg put the Predators (20-16-7) ahead 3-2 at 9:20 of the period after Ryan Johansen won a faceoff from Nathan MacKinnon. Forsberg controlled the puck in the right circle and shot it by goalie Semyon Varlamov's left arm for his 11th goal.
The Avalanche (13-27-1) killed off a major boarding penalty to Rene Bourque for a hit against Viktor Arvidsson in the second period. Bourque also was assessed a game misconduct. The Predators didn't have a shot on a three-minute power play after Ryan Ellis served a minor roughing penalty.
The Avalanche took a 2-0 lead on defenseman Francois Beauchemin's first goal of the season at 2:21 of the second period. Mikhail Grigorenko won a faceoff in the left circle and Beauchemin scored from the left point.
The goal came three seconds after McLeod and former teammate Jarome Iginla fought.
Gabriel Landeskog gave the Avalanche a 1-0 lead at 4:07 of the first period. Landeskog moved around Ellis along the goal line to Rinne's right and pounced the puck in for his eighth goal.
Rinne made 28 saves.
The Predators improved to 4-0-0 against the Avalanche this season.
