2016 IIHF Worlds Summary: Day 11
The group stage of the 80th IIHF World Championship is slowly nearing its end, with only a single game day of the group stage remaining. Three Avalanche players took the ice today – Matt Duchene and Calvin Pickard faced France, while Andreas Martinsen played against Russia.
Canada – France 4:0 (1:0, 1:0, 2:0)

Canada recorded their sixth win in row, as their shut out their French counterparts. The Canadians rested several of their players, starter Cam Talbot being one of them, as Calvin Pickard got the start in net. Pickard didn’t have all too much work, but he stopped a penalty shot in the second period to secure a shutout. Matt Duchene scored his fourth goal of the tournament. He recorded a total of three shots on goal.
Russia – Norway 3:0 (0:0, 2:0, 1:0)
23. Telegin, 38. Panarin, 43. Lyubimov
Norway stood their ground against the hosts, but ultimately failed to secure a point. They had several golden opportunities to beat goalie Ilya Sorokin, Andreas Martinsen being one of the Norse players getting a shot on net, but like the rest of his teammates, he came up empty.
