Invasion IX: Interview with Michal
Eurolanche Invasion IX starts in January. 10 Fan Club members from 4 countries will travel to the US. We're introducing member by member in these inteviews.Michal Zdrazil, 30, lives in Chrudim, Czech Republic, He’s been a fan of the Avalanche since the Stanley Cup-winning year 1996. He is a member of Eurolanche since 2015. He currently works as a policeman and this will be his first trip to Denver.
Why did you decide to go to Colorado?
I’ve been playing with the idea of going to Denver too see games of my favorite team for a long time. Once I discovered that Eurolanche exists and they organize trips to Colorado, there was nothing to wait for and I decided that I’ll attend such a trip as soon as possible. I’m mostly interested in Avalanche games, but I’m also looking forward to the city and its surroundings. A trip to the US is a dream come true, which I gave to myself as a gift for my 30th birthday.
What are you excited about the most?
I’m excited about attending Avs games, but I’m also looking forward to the trips to L.A., San Francisco, Anaheim and San Jose. To sum it up, I’m simply looking forward to everything related to the trip with the exception of the long flight.
What are your expectations from the trip in general?
I expect that it’ll be a whole new experience associated not only with hockey, but with traveling and exploring new cultures with new people. At the meeting in Brno, I found out that the others that’ll participate in the Invasion are really nice, so I believe we are going to enjoy all those great moments together. I look forward to interesting places around Denver and the southwest of the US. My biggest expectations are naturally related to hockey. I’ve attended an NHL game only once, back in Prague in 2010 between Boston and Arizona (still called Phoenix back then), but the atmosphere was a bit disappointing. That’s why I’m curious to see what it’s like at Avalanche and Nuggets games.
Have you followed previous Invasions? If so, what stood out for you the most?
I’ve only followed the one in 2016. The thing that intrigued me the most was surely the outdoor game against the Red Wings and the trips to Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam. Those are places and moments I’d also like to experience
How long have you been a member of Eurolanche and what do you think about Eurolanche?
I am really new to the Fan Club, as I joined in 2015. There is no similar project in Europe at this stage and I’m very intrigued with everything associated with Eurolanche. That’s why I must say that everything, whether it’s the Fan Club meetings or articles, have been great so far.
How do you like the organization and preparations for Invasion IX?
So far, everything seems to be very carefully prepared and it is obvious that the organizer has lots of experience and contacts. Personally, I think it would be impossible to choose a better person to organize a trip like this.
