Invasion IX: Interview with David
Eurolanche Invasion IX starts in January. 10 Fan Club members from 4 countries will travel to the US. We're introducing member by member in these inteviews.David Puchovsky, 26, comes from Bratislava, Slovakia. He founded the Eurolanche Fan Club in 2007 and remain its President until today. He took part in a total of 7 Eurolanche Invasions, most among all Eurolanche members. He used to work as a journalist for the leading Slovak daily newspaper Novy Cas and managed to track down three kidnapped Slovak children in Hungary and Panama, about whom he later wrote a book titled Unesene (Kidnapped).
Why did you decide to go to Denver for the eighth time?
Because each Invasion is different and unique. Each time, a different group of people comes together. It’s always a brand new experience and it also provides new experience with the organizational part of the trips. Furthermore, I simply love the surroundings around Denver and the entire state of Colorado, which we still haven’t completely explored. We make more progress each year and each Invasion. It’s going to be an unbelievable experience once again.
Aren’t you worried that the Invasion will be the same as last year?
The answer stays the same every year – definitely not. Just the four-day trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco to attend two Avalanche road games makes the Invasion IX another fantastic and unique trip. Sure, I will be seeing some places again and again, but I don’t consider this a problem since I love everything about the trips.
What makes the Invasions different from each other?
As I mentioned before, it differs in the people participating, as it directly affects the entire Invasion. There are changes in the schedule as well. We change it every year in certain aspects, so that we don’t miss any of the traditional and most interesting locations, but we also add various places where none of us have been to before. That’s actually one of the reasons why members participating in previous Invasions come back – to experience something new. The next Invasion will be a whole new experience for everyone but me.
What do you expect from Invasion IX and what are you looking forward to the most?
I am really excited that it’s going to be a new experience – from a group of 10 people, I’ll be the only one, who has ever been to Denver before. This of course goes hand in hand with bigger responsibility. I expect that this will be another memorable trip, which will bring a great group of people together. And most of all, I am looking forward to our trip to the West Coast, as I’ve never been there before.
Can you imagine coming back to Denver after this Invasion?
Certainly. It all depends on the interests of our members interests. I have been through a lot during my 7 Invasions, but as long as there is interest from our fans and member I’ll be happy to do it again, because at this stage, it’s only about them.
What would you say to the fans who aren’t sure if they should participate?
We celebrate our tenth season, during which we organize our ninth Invasion and a lot of other activities. Ten years of our existence serves as proof that no other fan club of any NHL team can give their members what we can. If you follow all our footage from Denver, including photos, videos, diaries, live streams and more, you can see that the Eurolanche Invasion is something you definitely shouldn’t miss.
