Invasion IX: Interview with Marian
Eurolanche Invasion IX starts in January. 10 Fan Club members from 4 countries will travel to the US. We're introducing member by member in these inteviews.Marian Nikl, 22, comes from the village of Vracov near the Czech border with Slovakia, where he works in a family business. He devoted himself to becoming an ice hockey referee during his high school years. He has been a Eurolanche member since 2012. He began to follow the Avalanche about three years before he became a Fan Club member. The trip to Denver will be his first.
Why did you decide to go to Colorado?
Obviously, the main reason to participate in Eurolanche Invasion IX is to see the players and the NHL itself in person. It will be a great experience for me. I’m a regular visitor of Kometa Brno games here in the Czech Republic and I love the atmosphere in the stands. I want to experience the atmosphere of the NHL.
What are you looking forward to the most?
That’s not so easy to say. Obviously, I'm interested in attending Avalanche games and to see the players in action. But I also look forward to the meetings with the players, such as former captain Milan Hejduk, to experiencing the way of life in the US, the nature, traveling, experiencing, etc. I want to enjoy every single day in the US no matter where. The one thing I do know is that there is one thing I most certainly do not look forward to - the food. I have a certain diet and schedule here in the Czech Republic and I’m afraid that I won’t be able to follow it in the US, which means that when I come back, I'll be frightened to even look at my weight.
What are your expectations from the trip in general?
I have only the highest expectations of course. I believe that everything will go smoothly and there will be no problems. I hope that everything will go according to plan. I believe the trip is going to be successful and I do not expect anything else.
Have you followed previous Invasions? If so, what stood out for you the most? What would you like to experience?
I didn’t followed previous Invasions so I can’t compare what it was like then and what it will be now.
How long have you been a member of Eurolanche and what do you think about Eurolanche?
I registered back in 2012, so I’m a member since being 18. At that time, I was already a fan of Colorado and was watching games, but the Fan Club gave me more opportunity to immerse myself in everything concerning the Avalanche and gave me a different perspective. Also, the fan club website is great, because I can put comments on various articles, events, or simply chat with other members. And of course, the organization of trips - amazing. To sum it up: the uniqueness of the website and the Fan Club as a whole makes it probably the best Fan Club of the NHL in Europe.
How do you like the organization and preparations for Invasion IX?
I must say that so far, everything is going according to plan and without any major problems. Everything is organized in advance, so that nobody has any problems with all the necessary documents and stuff. I also didn’t have any problems, even though I signed up as the last Invasion member and basically too late. I believe that it will be similar once we are in the USA and the Invasion will be without complications.
