2016 IIHF Worlds Summary: Day 5
The 2016 IIHF World Championship in Russia continued with its fifth game day, with a total of four games being played. One could say that today’s schedule was the tournament’s weakest to date. Only two Avalanche players hit the ice today – goalie Reto Berra got the start for Switzerland, while forward Andreas Martinsen played against Kazakhstan.

Switzerland – Denmark 3:2 after OT (0:2, 0:0, 2:0, 1:0)

The Swiss were looking to avoid a third consecutive loss, with Reto Berra getting the call in the goal. Switzerland got into penalty trouble early on, which resulted in them facing a two-goal deficit after the opening period. As the game went on, Berra played his part, stopping all Danish shots and providing his teammates with hope for a comeback. Thanks to Berra’s 20 saves in the final 40 minutes, his teammates pulled even and went on to win the game in OT. The Bulach native recorded 26 saves in total.Kazakhstan – Norway 2:4 (1:1, 1:2, 0:1)
